Kevin Sharp
Long time club stalwart of Paeroa Athletics Club, Kevin Sharp has sadly passed away in Paeroa on the 22 August, aged 82. This year at the club’s ribbon day in March Kevin along with his wife Bev, was acknowledged for his 43 year long association with the club. Kevin, a former athlete himself, joined the club committee in 1983 and was made a life member of the Paeroa Amateur Athletics Club in 1995. He also served as President of the club from 1983 for three years followed by Secretary for another three years. Kevin continued serving on the clubs committee until October 2024. He will be remembered by generations of Paeroa athletes as starter and handicapper of all the distance races.
Kevin was involved with officiating at track and field events in Hamilton and was part of the Field Team at the Nationals held in Hamilton, as well of course harrier and cross country events. He was awarded an Athletics NZ Service Award in 2022.
Kevin will be remembered as a willing helper for anything required at the Paeroa Athletics Club, especially marking out the track. A committed gentleman that just got on and did things with no fuss.
