Athletics Waikato Bay of Plenty is seeking an appointed board member.

About Athletics Waikato Bay of Plenty

Athletics Waikato Bay of Plenty is a Regional Sports Organisation with our focus being the promotion and development of athletics in the our region.   Our vision is Greater Athletics participation in an enjoyable and sustainable environment.

Our region is large and stretches from the Coromandel through Tauranga to Whakatane, Rotorua, Taupo, the King Country and back up through the entire Waikato including Hamilton, Cambridge, Te Awamutu and beyond.

We have a Centre Manager and a Coachforce Officer (Bay of Plenty) , and are planning for one more role in 2023. We have a large group of volunteers across the region and support over 35 clubs and have 3500 registered athletes.

The Centre looks after Athletics Road and Cross Country for tamariki, rangatahi and adult athletes.

About the role

Athletics Waikato Bay of Plenty is seeking an appointed board member. The successful applicant will play an instrumental role in the continued growth and development of athletics in our region.

We are open to applicants from a diverse range of backgrounds and from the across the region, the following skills would be especially helpful to balance our current board and strategic direction.

  • General play, active recreation and sport sector knowledge and experience.
  • Financial and Accounting Expertise.
  • Communication / Public Relations and Social Media expertise

We are also interested in talking to people who would be interested in being a board observers and standing for the board in August 2023.

Term

The successful candidates will be appointed for a term of three (3)-years.

The Athletics Waikato Bay of Plenty Board meet roughly ten (10) times a year. Most meetings are held virtually with 2 or 3 face to face meetings each year.

You need to be able to attend events or meets from time to time and the expected workload can be up 8- 10 hours a month including the meetings.

Remuneration

This is an unpaid position, but expenses will be reimbursed.
