John Noble
Cambridge Athletic & Harrier Club Patron and Life Member, John Noble passed away on Friday 5 September.
John was involved with the Club for over 45 years and held almost every position in the Club over this time. Club Patron, President, Harrier Chairman, Handicapper, official Athletic Starter, Graded Athletic Referee, lane marker, as well as facilities manager.
His passion was instrumental in merging the Athletic and Harrier Clubs in 1989. John initiated the extensions to the old Clubrooms, and he spent many hours with the construction of the Club Lounge, fittingly named the John Noble Lounge.
John was acknowledged and awarded Life membership of the Club in 1993 and recognised by Athletics New Zealand with a Long Service Award in 2003.
John was a truly remarkable figure who gave an immeasurable amount to the sport of Athletics in Cambridge.
