Introducing our new Athletics Waikato Bay of Plenty Development & Events Coordinator
BARRIE JENNINGS
We are excited to announce that Barrie has started in the role as Development & Events Coordinator for the Centre and comes to us with a strong background in athletics, plus working with a variety of athletes in other sports, technical experience, and education, as well as experience with high performance athletes. He has been involved in athletics since starting at Hinemoa, at the old Hillcrest Cycling Stadium, Hamilton as an 8 year old.
Barrie has previously held the role of CoachForce Athletics for Sport Bay of Plenty where the objective was to connect with schools and clubs to develop and maintain Coach education and opportunities. The role also included implementing Run Jump Throw and the Get Set Go program.
He has been President of Hinemoa Athletics Club, Hamilton Old Boys Junior Rugby Club and run successful events for over 20 years. Included in that experience, is working with Waikato Dio Athletics, and WBOP Childrens Athletics events.
With a degree in Sports Science, and World Athletics Coach Education Certificates, Barrie brings extensive knowledge plus with more than 20 years working with a variety of athletes, he has a full understanding of the requirements to develop a safe and sensible sport environment.
