Athletics New Zealand Awards 2025
At the Athletics NZ AGM held in Cambridge on Sunday 31 August we acknowledge and congratulate these Centre people who were deserved recipients of the following awards:
Athletics NZ Merit Award
Sally Kerr
Sally was awarded this Merit Award which acknowledged her contribution to the Centre and our sport. Sally has served five years as Board Chair for Athletics Waikato Bay of Plenty after becoming Chair in August 2020 as part of the inaugural board. With six years of governance experience on the board at Hamilton East School (five years as Chairperson) Sally came onto our Board with a good understanding of the difference between governance and management. She has always been a strong supportive Chair in guiding the Board and contributing to a stronger financial position for the Centre.
Her athletics involvement had mostly been with Children’s Athletics – with Hinemoa Athletic Club (7 years as Treasurer), the WBOP Children’s committee, and on the Local Organising Committee for the 2019 Hamilton Colgate Games.
One aspect that goes unnoticed is her willingness to assist at major events in an official’s capacity at all levels of our sport.
Athletics NZ Long Service Awards
Paul Signal (Cambridge Athletic & Harrier Club)
Glenn Sexton (Hamilton City Hawks)
Mary Rogerson (Hamilton City Hawks)
Terry Genge (Hamilton City Hawks)
Harry Genge (Hamilton City Hawks)
Mike French (Hamilton City Hawks)
Patrick Whalley (Hamilton City Hawks)
For these worthy recipients to have gained an Athletics NZ Long Service Award, they needed to have given significant service to the sport at either club, regional or national level, or a combination of them, for over 20 years which they certainly all have.
