Athletics WBOP Board Vacancy
Athletics Waikato Bay of Plenty (AWBOP) is seeking nominations to fill a current vacancy on the AWBOP Board.
The Board plays an important role in helping guide the future direction of athletics in our region. This is a governance role, not a committee or operational position. Board members are responsible for providing strategic leadership, oversight, and stewardship of the organisation, working collectively to support the sustainable growth and development of athletics across our region.
We encourage you consider individuals who can bring diverse skills, perspectives, and experience to the Board table.
About the Board Role
The successful nominee will:
- Contribute to strategic decision‑making and governance oversight
- Support the organisation’s vision, values, and long‑term direction
- Act in the best interests of athletics across the entire Waikato Bay of Plenty region
The Board meets five (5) times per year via online meetings, plus attendance at the annual in‑person AGM. Preparation and engagement outside meetings are expected, but the role is designed to be manageable alongside other commitments. This is a voluntary position, with approved expenses reimbursed.
Skills and Experience
To support a skills‑based Board composition, we are particularly interested in nominees with experience or capability in areas such as:
- Governance or board experience
- Sport or active recreation sector knowledge
- Financial oversight or accounting
- Strategic leadership
- Risk, legal, or compliance
- Communications or stakeholder engagement
