This Cross-Country event is for Waikato Secondary Schools (except Thames Valley schools who have a separate XC event) and is ideal preparation for the regional Waikato & Bay of Plenty Secondary School Championships (held one week later on Wednesday 10^th June).

This event is open to all Secondary School students in the Waikato region, and there are no specific qualification criteria for athletes to participate. The age groups are aligned with the New Zealand Secondary Schools Cross Country which takes place in Wellington June 20th.

GRADES:

• Year 9: Athletes must be in Year 9 and under 15 as at 31 December 2026 (born on or after 1st January 2012). An athlete can compete in the Year 9 race once only.
• Junior: Under 16 on 31 December 2026 (born on or after 1st of January 2011)
• Senior:  Under 20 on 31 December 2026 (born between 1st January 2006 & 31st December 2010)
• Para Athletes:  as for Year 9, Junior and Senior grades above except ORS funded athletes can be Under 22 as on 31st December 2026 (born on or after 1st January 2005)
