Athletics Waikato Bay of Plenty warmly invites club members to attend the WBOP Club Connect Conference and Annual General Meeting on Sunday 9 August 2026 at the Cambridge Athletic & Harrier Club Rooms.

This is a valuable opportunity for clubs across our region to connect, share ideas, and prepare for the upcoming Track and Field season. This will be a valuable opportunity for anyone interested in coaching, athlete development, or club growth.

A key feature of the day is the CAD Level 1 Sprint & Hurdles Course (12.00pm-1.30pm), which is highly relevant for developing coaches and those supporting young athletes. With the season approaching, it is a timely chance for members to upskill and build confidence before club programmes get underway.

The programme also includes a presentation from Papamoa Athletics Club (2.00pm), an innovative and growing club, covering practical insights into weekly club delivery, investing in people, and managing growth.

12:00pm – 1:30pm	COACHING ATHLETIC DEVELOPMENT (CAD) Level 1 Sprint & Hurdles Course CAD L1 is Athletics New Zealand’s community-level coach education programme, teaching the technical fundamentals of athletics events. It’s designed to help coaches confidently support developing youth athletes as they build their skills. WHO SHOULD ATTEND? This course suits coaches working with young teen athletes (up to age 16) and is a natural next step from the foundational coaching skills covered in the Run Jump Throw programme. ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS? Coaches must be registered with Athletics NZ — as a community coach, accredited coach, or community volunteer. Register here with ANZ CAD L1 COURSE COST: Free for eligible AWBOP members from our region — we’ll cover the cost. $15.00 for other eligible participants, including registered teachers.
