SAM JOHNSON MEMORIAL THROWS MEET 2026

When: Sunday 15^th November 2026

Where: Porritt Stadium, Crosby Road, Hamilton

Please note this competition is for registered and non-registered athletes, able bodied and para-athletes, and all grades from Under 16 and older. Younger athletes ‘may’ be accepted into the competition at the discretion of the organisers – Debbie Strange, John Eden, Kim Mickle and Barrie J.

We will make groups of about 12 competitors competing at once in each event, so athletes do not have to wait a long time between throws. Look carefully at the you are in.

Implements: Some implements will be provided but please bring your own competition implements so you know you have the correct weight according to Athletics NZ rules. Implements will be ‘officially’ weighed IF is new record is set.

Schedule: 

9.10am | Officials, coaches and parents briefing. 

9.25am | Supervised warm up starts 30 minutes before event starts. Athletes can have 2 warm up throws plus 6 in the event if they wish.  

10.00am | Javelin (all grades) | Shot Put (men) | Discus (women) 

ALL JAVELIN THROWERS & THEIR COACHES – A 30min debrief session with Debbie Strange will immediately follow the competition.

Other events will follow on in the order when the previous event finishes. Allow 30mins between events for warm up and a little break for the officials.
