Level 1 Athletics Officials course

Our Level 1 course is a great way to take your first step in becoming an official, by learning about Athletics from the official’s point of view, what you’re looking for and how to assist athletes in an encouraging and collaborative environment. It involves an introduction to officiating, a practical walk through of the events and the stadium; followed by our General seminar, including an overview of athletics, safety and safeguarding; and finishing with an open book discussion-based assessment.

Note, there is an open meet at Athletics Tauranga after the course. If you are available, this is a great opportunity to put what you’ve learnt into action, and Alan McDonald, our Officials Educator, will be there to support you.
